Pastor Jim
Celebrating the life of

Pastor Jim Cobrae

As we gather to celebrate the life and legacy of Pastor Jim, we are reminded of the profound impact he had on all who knew him. Like the faithful figures in Hebrews 11, Pastor Jim exemplified unwavering faith, guiding and inspiring us through life's trials and triumphs.

In this time of remembrance, the family invites you to share your cherished memories, reflections, and messages of comfort. Whether it's a heartfelt story, a cherished moment, or a simple message of condolence, we thank you for sharing.

Around 2015, I was searching for a church to call home. Like a shoe a half size too small, I couldn't find one that fit right. My brother, Terrence Williams, brought me to The Rock Church, where pastor Jim was preaching. His message was simple, "Don't be stupid, follow Jesus." Very simple, very effective. Thank you for touching my life and my family's life, Pastor Jim. Matthew 25:23.

I am so very thankful for your life! My family was established under you, our pastor. I know Brad was there to greet you in heaven and give you a BIG hug. I will pray for your wife and partner as she finishes her time here without you. See you soon mighty man,

I had attended the Rock off and on, but I fully committed my heart and life to Jesus and attending the Rock full time in 2009. My marriage wasn’t exactly the best. I sat under pastor Jim’s teaching and Jesus radically changed me and my heart. My husband thought I was crazy and couldn’t understand why I was honoring, respecting and loving him the way I was. Long story short my husband and I are going on 25 years of life together and we have the marriage I always wanted. I’ve learned and grown so much in my relationship with God because of pastor Jim’s commitment to teach the truth of God's word. I valued his honesty before our congregation. I saw his tender heart for God and aspired to have that kind of relationship with God too. Eventually, I went on to graduate from TRBC. I have an amazing life with my King Jesus and it’s because pastor Jim was unwavering in teaching the whole truth of God's word; because he was always transparent with our congregation, because of his tender heart for God, because he lived a life for God that was full of integrity. Of course pastor Jim was not perfect and had his flaws as a human, but he was a great example of how I should live my life with God until my race is finished. Just wanted to say thank you to pastor Debra and family for sharing Pastor Jim with us. I will hold you all in my heart, thoughts, and always in prayer. I love you all and could never imagine being part of any other church. The Rock is my home.

Just over 15 years ago I began attending the Rock church after meeting Frances who had already been a member of the church for over 10 years. I first went just to see what kind of teachings were being taught and what the atmosphere was like. What first impressed me was the opening prayer Pastor Jim spoke when he prayed for not only the Rock church, but also all the surrounding churches, as well as around the planet that were teaching and preaching the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then Pastor Jim gave an amazing message on the Word of God and never stopped doing so every time he was up on the altar. Frances and I always looked forward to hearing Pastor Jim and seeing him speak the truth and not holding back whatever the Holy Spirit would lead him to do and say. We loved his honesty and the love he showed to everyone. He was and is the greatest man of God we have ever had the honor to say he was our pastor. We love and miss him, we will forever be grateful to God for the time he gave us with him. Our deepest condolences to all of the family. May God’s love and strength comfort and keep you. May His grace be upon you in Jesus name Amen. 🙏

I attended The Rock Christian Center for many years . I taught in two of the christens ministries and attended every Wednesday and Sunday both morning and evening services . I loved Pastor Jim and Debra. My faith in God grew and flerished at the Rock. My 6 children were baptized and learned a lot more about God here. God Bless you all and Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insight . See you in Heaven

Yes I remember this cool pastor Very nice teacher he was.

I grew up attending the Rock Church, and my parents were very involved serving in the ministry. So when they decided to start their own ministry a few years ago, Pastors Jim and Deborah were there to embrace them and pray for them before the congregation. This is a memory that they continue to cherish, especially now, as Pastor Jim has completed his race. It exemplifies his character, how he continuously honored and supported others through his actions and his words. Jim Cobrae has made a profound impact on the world because he was humble enough to heed God's call to serve others. I'm grateful that I too can uphold that legacy by serving others as he did.

Everyone knew that Berin Gilfillan was Pastor Jim's best friend. But we also knew that Pastor Jim was the best friend that any of us could ever hope for. The fruit of the Spirit oozed out of him . . . particularly love and goodness. Like he often said "life with Jesus was just getting gooder and gooder!" We are so blessed to be able to have called Jim & Deby our pastors . . . we love them so much!

Pastor Jim was a man of God, a disciple of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit. It brought a smile to my face when I saw the Rock Dollar at his services. It reminded me of the amazing Children’s Ministry I was able to experience as a child and serve in as an adult. Pastor Jim had many memorable quotes and one of my favorite ones is, “Somebody’s gotta love you enough to tell you the truth.” The truth is Jesus.

We were saddened to hear about the Home Going of Pastor Jim. Larry and I joined the Rock Church in 2005 and were blessed to have served under Pastor Jim’s leadership until we relocated in 2015. I have several precious memories, however my favorite is the time we hosted Pastor Jim and Deborah at our home in Yucaipa for dinner. We decided we would cook dinner for them, which was a blessed time of fellowship as they shared their vision for the church and we discussed what the Lord would have us to do in reference to support. I decided that I would make a special dessert called a “Dump Cake,” which Pastor Jim really enjoyed. I began making it for him on special occasions. We are so thankful for his faithfulness and guidance. He taught us how to serve and honor the Lord! To Pastor Deborah and the family, may our Lord continue to bring comfort during the days and weeks ahead. I take comfort in knowing that I will see Pastor Jim in the future! Well done great man of God! Larry and Gail Charles Wright

My husband Dale and I were recalling when during COVID Pastors Jim and Deborah hosted a Zoom meeting for the Marrieds group. It was the best! I loved how they displayed their love for each other.
